ISO 9002, QS-9000 and Ford Q1 were achieved in 1997.
What is ISO 9002, QS-9000 and Ford Q1?
ISO 9002 is part of the ISO 9000 family of international quality management standards and
guidelines developed by the International Organisation of Standardisation (ISO). While most ISO standards are
highly specific to a particular product, material or process, ISO 9000 is a generic management system standard.
The standardised definition of "quality" in ISO 9000 refers to all those features of a product
(or service), which are required by the customer. "Quality management" means what the organisation does to ensure
that its products conform to the customer's requirements. |
| |
QS-9000 is the short name for "Quality System Requirements QS-9000."
It is the common supplier quality standard for Chrysler Corporation, Ford Motor Company, and General Motors Corporation.
QS-9000 is based on the 1994 edition of ISO 9001, but contains additional requirements that are particular to
the automotive industry. |
| |
The Ford Q1 Quality programme is an amalgamation of QS9000, MS9000 (Materials Systems),
and QOS (Quality Operating System). |
